Teri Forbes has built her business on the quality and reputation of her service. Her son once asked her why she always worries – whether its 20 or 200 people.

“Every person matters,” she says. “I want everyone to walk away happy.”

Forbes will not book more than one event per date so that she can give her undivided care to each event. “I purposely have never let the business grow beyond our means.”

Forbes’s desire and talent for cooking began to unfold when she was nine years old. While other children were out playing, Forbes was happy to read cookbooks, bake, and cook, and she burned plenty of “experiments”. Eventually, she would enjoy trying to impress her family with her cooking. Her family still has a good laugh reminiscing of the foods she tested on them. Her first catered event was when she was 16 years old for Grandma’s 60 th birthday party.

In 1991, as a single mom, she lost her full-time job. She turned the misfortune into an opportunity by fulfilling her ambition to open her own catering company. She opened her first business location on Allen Road near Goddard in Taylor. Now Teri’s Catering is at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Brest Road in Taylor.
