The impact that environment has on a client is important. They are going through stressful times in their lives and to come to a warm, comfortable environment is very important. It tells clients, whether families or individuals, that they are valued, and this puts people at ease. This environment also impacts the Center staff.
Although the Center does not offer babysitting, there is a safe area with some toys and a desk where older children can stay while waiting for their parents.
Sheehy gets a lot of personal satisfaction from providing a great counseling service for the community. She is an active member of Taylor Schools Health and participates in events like the Family Enrichment Health Fair.
The Center’s mission is to provide professional outpatient mental health services to the Downriver and Western Wayne County communities. The Center strives to enhance the psychological and social functioning of adults, adolescents and children of both sexes by improving their self esteem and coping skills. The Center places particular emphasis on empowering families, directing its efforts at strengthening them through education and psychotherapeutic interventions. |
