FOCUS: Load 1, Inc. - John Elliott

At 37, John K. Elliott II, president of Taylor-based Load One Transportation and Logistics, Inc., follows a family lineage of trucking and transportation company executives.

“My grandfather owns a number of transportation companies,” says Elliott. “My father is an executive for another Detroit-area trucking company. I have been president since the company was founded in early 2003.”

Before Load One, Elliott owned and worked in trucking for about 14 years. “I was never a driver, I just grew up surrounded by the industry,” he says.

Company structure
The company consists of four primary divisions. The Regional Truckload division offers 53-ft. air-ride truckload service mainly within a 300-mile radius of Taylor. The Expedite Division serves both local cartage and 48-state Expedite customers. Equipment ranges from cargo vans to straight trucks and tractor trailers. The company also has a dedicated Long-Haul Tractor-Trailer Division. On average, company tractors are less than two years old.

Lastly, the company’s Logistics Division offers a full-service brokerage and freight management service to meet all of their customers’ needs.

Driving for growth
Elliott believes his company embodies their company slogan: “The future belongs to those who deliver”. Since 2003 Load One has been doing just that for its customers, drivers and employees. The company has grown to annual sales volumes of over $20 million.

“Getting to the 20-million dollar mark,” says Elliott “was one of many exciting challenges and just one of many benchmarks we have set for our company.”
